Chairman's Update

October, 2006
Dear Friends of the National Cartoon Museum:

The National Cartoon Museum will not be re-locating in the Empire State Building. It proved too costly and we are looking into other locations in New York City while reviewing several other options.

I'm pleased to report that to date we have raised $1.8 million. These funds are restricted for construction and capital equipment.

While our fund raising moves forward our collection is housed in Stamford, Connecticut in a pristime and secure facility with climate control, proper lightening and access for serious researchers.

So much of Cartoon Art had its origin in New York. Comic Strips, Comic Books, Animation Studios and so many other facets of Cartooning began here. It is in New York, the cultural capital of the world that we can attract the largest viewing audience of discerning viewers from all crossroads of the globe.

We have seen several sites but none that we would consider permanent or temporary. Our search for a permanent location will continue. Please check back here often to get the latest updates.

Thank you for your continued support!
